IKEA Kuwait : A success story across generations

IKEA Kuwait was first established in Kuwait in 1984 by Al Homaizi brothers, Yacoub & Jasim Al Homaizi, who had a futuristic vision regarding the local business in Kuwait consisting in answering the market's needs, providing products of exceptional quality at affordable prices catering to the many requirements, and standing up to their expectations in terms of products, services and prices... a knowledge that Al Homaizi brothers had acquired throughout the years of experience along with an expertise gathered in the early sixties period in which they detained the sole agency of many prestigious European brands on the market.

In 1991, the liberation year turned out to be a remarkable achievement for IKEA and its owning company in Kuwait which did not spare an effort to revitalize its local presence insisting on its principles , serving the local community by selling its newly arrived collection 1991 at year 1990 prices. An action that collected socially a positive feedback.

4 years later, the urge of moving a step further determined IKEA Kuwait to implement the needed changes in terms of products, store , look and shape as per the recognized IKEA standards introducing a palette of services and a series of major rebuilt and this with a time period no longer than 6 months. The re-launch of the IKEA store that was held on 11th November 1995 gathered over 18000 visitors the day of the opening .
